Veronica Theresa (Dalton) Hannis, “Vera”, 88, of Wilkes-Barre, began her eternal life Friday, December 19, 2025, at Allied Services’ Respite Unit in Wilkes-Barre.
Born October 18,1937 in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Veronica (Kane) Dalton.
Vera worked as a supervisor in housekeeping and laundry at the Best Western Genetti Hotel and Convention Center in Wilkes-Barre for over 30 years.
Her greatest joy came from watching her family grow and welcoming her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lawrence D. Hannis, Sr., “Doug”, her son Lawrence D. Hannis, Jr. “Larry”, her brothers: Robert, James, Francis, Joseph John, Patrick and Thomas; her sister: Margaret Trzeciak, “Peggy” and her granddaughter: Holly Ann Elmy.
She is survived by her sister: Mary (Dalton) Drevenak of Wilkes-Barre; her three daughters Patricia Gregg of Wilkes-Barre Twp., Dorothy Elmy and her husband, Henry, of Sugar Notch, Margaret Pstrak and her husband, Gregory of Hanover Twp.; grandchildren: Hannah Gregg of Wilkes-Barre Twp.; Henry Elmy, Jr. and wife, Heather of Sugar Notch; Nicole (Elmy) Rossick and husband, Mark of Dallas; Matthew Elmy and wife, Mary Kate of Hanover Twp.; Gregory Pstrak, Jr. and wife, Beth Ann of Libertyville, Ill.; Joshua Pstrak and wife, Michele of Mountaintop; Kristen (Pstrak) Sickle and her husband, Nathan of Mountaintop and Colleen (Pstrak) Honse and her husband, Jacob of Tower City; great grandchildren: Bryce, Brendyn, Camryn, Avery, Briar Rose, Rhys, Adalee, Myla and Fletcher; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and her pet Parakeet, Daisy Mae.
At her request, no services will be held. Private arrangements have been made from Jendrzejewski Funeral Home, 21 N. Meade St., Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
The family would like to give thanks to the Staff of Medical Oncology Assocs. of Kingston and the Staff of Allied Services of Wilkes-Barre’s Palliative/Hospice/Respite Units for their wonderful care and compassion!
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to honor Vera’s memory, a cause very near and dear to her heart.
