Thomas R. Wheeler, 78, of Wilkes-Barre Township, passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2026.
Born December 2, 1948, in Falls, PA, he was the son of the late Walter and Margaret Gryskavicz Wheeler.
A proud Vietnam War Veteran, Thomas served in the U.S. Army as a Sargent from September 1967 to May 1970. He was active in the American Legion Post #815, Wilkes-Barre Township. He was a past commander (2012 ~ 2013) and then an active Board member from (2013 ~ Present).
Thomas worked for Great Northern Distributors for 25 years and also worked as a courier for Mercy Hospital until he retired in 2010.
Thomas was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather whose love for his family was steady and unwavering.
Thomas is survived by his sister, Debby Dixon of Dallas, PA; his cousin Cheryl Lamas of Texas; his wife, Theresa Wheeler; daughter, Michelle Melovitz; step-son, Robert Wallace of Washington State; grandchildren, Brittany Taylor of Wilkes-Barre Township, Brad Melovitz of Wilkes-Barre Township, Dylan Wallace and Damon Wallace of Washington State; and great granddaughter, Kaylee Taylor of Wilkes-Barre Township.
Thomas will be missed dearly and his legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the values he passed down. Our family will forever carry his memory with love and gratitude. His service to his country and his devotion to his family will never be forgotten.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:00am at the Jendrzejewski Funeral Home, 21 North Meade Street, Wilkes-Barre. Deacon William Behm will be officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call Thursday evening at the funeral home from 5:00 to 7:00pm.
