Thomas J. Capinas, a devoted family man and steadfast steelworker, passed away on April 5, 2026, at Lakewood Nursing and Rehabilitation in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania. Born on June 5, 1943, in Wilkes-Barre Township, PA, Thomas lived a full and meaningful life deeply rooted in his community and family.

A proud 1961 graduate of Wilkes-Barre Township High School, Thomas embarked on a career in the steel industry that spanned many years. He was employed first at Foster-Wheeler and later at Royer Foundry, where his dedicated work ethic and skilled craftsmanship left a lasting impression on colleagues and the communities those companies served.

Beyond his professional life, Thomas was an avid sports enthusiast, particularly passionate about the Los Angeles Dodgers and ice hockey. He also cherished his time outdoors as an enthusiastic hunter, pursuits that spoke to his lively spirit and connection to nature. A stalwart member of St. Robert Bellarmine Parish in Wilkes-Barre, Thomas’s faith was a cornerstone of his identity.

Thomas’s legacy is profoundly carried forward by his loving family. He is survived by his daughters, Dr. Cherie Soprano and Tracey Sisko Capinas, both residing in Henderson, Nevada, and his son Thomas A. Capinas and wife Tracey of Sweet Valley, Pennsylvania. He took great pride in his nine grandchildren: Nicholas Sisko, Carl Joseph Soprano, Jillian Milroy and her husband Zachary, Hope Hummel, Thomas Capinas Jr., Zachary Capinas, and Charles Capinas. His joy was further enriched by the presence of his great-grandchildren, Martin and Oliver Milroy, along with Wyatt Capinas.

Thomas is also survived by his sisters, Regina Gagliardi and her husband Joseph of The Villages, Florida; Judith Doyle and her husband Robert of Lewes, Delaware; and Irene Brown of Hanover Township, Pennsylvania, along with several nieces and nephews who remember him fondly.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Anthony and Caroline Kuren Capinas, his devoted wife Joanne Capinas, who passed on September 6, 2021, and his siblings Anthony Kapinus and Joan Sailus.

A Celebration of Life honoring Thomas will be held on June 5, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Jendrzejewski Funeral Home, located at 21 N. Meade Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702. This gathering offers an opportunity for all who knew him to pay tribute, share memories, and celebrate the enduring influence of his life.

Thomas J. Capinas’s life reflected commitment, strength, and warmth. He leaves behind a legacy cherished by family, friends, and all who were fortunate to know him. His memory will continue to inspire and comfort those who carry his spirit forward.
