On October 8, 2026, our favorite dirty hippie, Michael Porzuczek, rode off into the great beyond. Though his ride here has ended, his spirit will forever live on in the music, the memories, and the hearts of everyone who knew and loved him.
Michael was the son of Edward Porzuczek and the late Betty Porzuczek (Wallace).
If there was one thing about Michael, it was that he was going to live life HIS way. He was a true free spirit, a proud self proclaimed “dirty hippie,” and a Grateful Dead lover through and through. He wasn’t about living a boring life. He was about good music, good vibes, big fireworks, four wheeling in his Jeep, riding quads, hunting, shooting, and anything that gave him an adrenaline rush. If it got your heart racing, chances are Michael was all for it!
Michael was one of a kind. He marched to the beat of his own drum, did things his own way, and lived for the moments that made life fun. He had that wild, free spirit that just couldn’t be tamed, and that’s exactly how he’ll always be remembered.
Michael leaves behind his father, Edward; his brother David, his sister Maryellen, his beloved bonus mom Aunt Cathy Welgosh; and his cousins Susan, Laurel, Joe, Joseph, Jeffrey, Greg, and Cody. He also leaves behind his beloved nieces and nephews, Alyssa, Ariel, Makenzie, Mikayla, Madeleine, and Matthew, along with his great-niece and great-nephews, Caydence, Jonah, and Levi, who all held a special place in his heart.
Michael never had children of his own, but that never stopped him from loving his nieces and nephews and great-niece and great-nephews like they were his own. They meant the world to him, and that kind of love is something that will never be forgotten.
It’s hard to imagine a world without him in it, but if Michael taught us anything, it’s that life is too short not to enjoy the ride. So crank up the Grateful Dead, take the long way home, hit the trails, and light up the sky with the biggest fireworks you can find. That’s how we’re going to remember him.
We hope wherever you are now, there’s a never-ending concert, a wide-open trail, a Jeep ready to go, and fireworks lighting up the sky. No rules, no worries, just freedom and good vibes.
