Gail A. Missal

It is with deep sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Gail A. Missal, who was born on September 19, 1950, and passed away on July 27, 2026, with her loving family by her side. Gail will always be remembered for her generous heart, unwavering devotion to her family, and the many lives she touched through her kindness, compassion, and vibrant spirit.

Born in Wilkes-Barre Township, Pennsylvania, Gail was a graduate of Wilkes-Barre Township High School, Class of 1968. She was a hardworking, intelligent, and independent woman who stood firmly by her values and approached life with determination, resilience, and grace. She found her greatest happiness in making sure her family—and everyone she loved—were happy, always placing their needs before her own.

She was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, cherished sister, aunt, and loyal friend whose greatest joy was simply being surrounded by her family. Her two sons were among the greatest blessings of her life, and nothing brought her more joy than simply being their mom and sharing life's moments with the family she loved so dearly.

Gail had a remarkable way of making ordinary days feel special. She found joy in life's simple pleasures—gathering with family, celebrating holidays, listening to country music, playing bingo, browsing estate sales, and making memories with the people who meant the most to her. If she knew her family was gathered at the campground, she never thought twice about hopping in the car with a pizza just to spend an hour around the campfire. To Gail, those weren't little moments—they were the moments that mattered most.

Her kitchen was often the heart of family gatherings, and her homemade meals brought everyone to the table. But it was the love she served alongside every meal that people will remember most. Her grandchildren, River and Donnie, especially treasured the way Grandma always knew exactly what they wanted and somehow made every plate feel as though it had been prepared especially for them.

At the heart of Gail's life was the love she shared with her husband, Donny. Married for 55 years, they were not only husband and wife, but best friends. Together they built a beautiful life centered on love, family, and unwavering devotion to one another. Whether it was life on the road during Donny's trucking days, time spent around his classic cars, evenings at the local drag strip, or simply setting off on another adventure together, Gail treasured every moment they shared. Their love and friendship became the foundation of the family they cherished so deeply—a legacy that will continue through the generations they loved so well.

Gail dedicated more than 30 years of her life to public service through her career with the Social Security Administration, retiring as a Claims Authorizer. She was respected for her knowledge, strong work ethic, and willingness to help both the public and her coworkers. Whether solving a difficult problem or lending a helping hand, Gail earned the admiration of those around her through her wisdom, compassion, and genuine desire to make a difference.

Above all else, Gail believed family was life's greatest blessing. She had a remarkable gift for making people feel cared for, welcomed, and loved. Her generosity knew no bounds, and she gave freely of herself without ever expecting anything in return. Her love, strength, compassion, and joyful spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

Gail was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Regina "Jean" Motovidlak; her sisters, Jean "Sissy" Kostak, Evelyn Kornova, and Donna Sharpe; and her brother, Raymond Motovidlak.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, Donald Z. Missal; her two loving sons, Donald Missal and Daniel Missal; her beloved daughter-in-law, Michele Missal, whom she loved as a daughter; her cherished grandchildren, River Missal and Donald Coleman "Donnie" Missal; her brothers, Thomas Motovidlak and Michael Motovidlak; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, and all whose lives were made richer simply by knowing her.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in the love, laughter, and beautiful memories Gail leaves behind. Her greatest legacy lives on in the family she loved so deeply, and in the countless ordinary days she made extraordinary simply by being herself. She will be missed beyond words and loved always.
