Barbara James

Barbara James of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at Allied Services Meade Street Residence, Wilkes-Barre.

Born November 6, 1925, in Easton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Barbara Stankus Norkus.

Barbara was a 1943 graduate of G.A.R. Memorial High School, Wilkes-Barre, and was employed in the area shoe industry, including GoLo Footwear, Dunmore, retiring in 1987.

She was a member of Our Lady of Hope Parish, Wilkes-Barre, and their Prayer Shawl Ministry.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph James on July 1, 1998; brother, Peter Norkus; and sisters, Valeria Guarino and Elizabeth Miller.

Surviving is her son, Richard James and his wife, Beverly of Dallas, PA; grandchildren, Richard C. James and his wife, Deborah, and Becky Spencer and her husband, Jamie; and great grandchildren, Tyler, Owen, and Jaclyn James, and Samantha, Luke, Lily, and Amy Spencer.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00am at the Jendrzejewski Funeral Home, 21 North Meade Street, Wilkes-Barre. Reverend John S. Terry, Pastor of Our Lady of Hope Parish, will be Celebrating. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Maternity Cemetery, West Wyoming. Friends may call Saturday morning from 9:00am until time of services.
